Destiny 2 offers information about features for October 8 Revenant episode and Frontiers’ armor revamp

Yesterday was a pretty meaty day for fans of Destiny 2 as Bungie took to Twitch and YouTube in order to share update details for the Episode: Revenant update that will be landing on Tuesday, October 8th.

Among the details shared during the stream were a look at a tonic brewing mechanic that can either boost artifact perks or improve weapon drops, a revamp for the Onslaught wave survival mode including an expanded playlist and more maps, and a look through the new Stasis-centric seasonal artifact.

The devs also confirmed a few adjustments to weapon crafting in this season, noting that seasonal weapons will not be craftable from the very jump. This information caused a lot of players to assume that crafting was being entirely cut from the game, but as Bungie posted in early September, crafting weapons will not be going away, only delayed as the season progresses as a sort of “catch-up mechanic” for those who missed the boat.

The stream also provided some more tidbits about the game’s Codename: Frontiers series of releases: The two expansions that are releasing were described as similar in size to 2016’s Rise of Iron from a story standpoint, with a main narrative campaign and a larger structure to delve similar to the Dreaming City. The devs also alluded to updates to armor coming in Frontiers, which was elaborated on in a follow-up dev blog that promises updates to stats to make them more impactful and less muddy as well as the addition of set bonuses.

The complete livestream can be watched below for all of the granular detail, or there’s a helpful synopsis post on Reddit for more of the stream’s bullet points.
