Betawatch: March 6, 2015

After a brief delay, Camelot Unchained’s alpha went live this week; City State Entertainment even threw in a builder tool to sweeten the pot. What else is new in the land of MMO testing?

Our complete list of MMOs in testing is below.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed.

Feels like slim pickings. Doesn’t seem like anything good is coming out, besides DFO coming back!

Damn Ive noticed H1Z1 in the top games being streamed on Twitch for a couple weeks now, seems to be doing very well.

CSE_Tyler breetoplay Vexia I was extremely relieved when I saw the CU art style. Other than more dirt/grunge/rust on top I couldn’t ask for more.

spacetail Between CF and CU (and several others) the dark age the genre has been in for 10 years seems to be coming to and end, I hope!

breetoplay CSE_Tyler Vexia OMG – literally. Say the letters. We’ve put a bunch of time into making that work lol. Glad to see some recognition! Michelle and Sandra have pushed us a bit in what we’re trying to do. Balancing visuals against 500 player battles is rough. I think we will end up with a good balance. I’ll keep making cheap trees so you get your skirts!

CSE_Tyler Vexia Isn’t it gorgeous? I love the art for the game. Very moody. This one is super Tolkienesque. (Also still in love with the armor designs. Skirts over pants ftw!)

Kahlinad Community is what makes these games. I’ve seen it in CU, and look forward to seeing it push MMO’s in general.

Black Widow Company already has a pretty big following in our clan for Crowfall, can’t wait for more, would love to see more content centered around bringing communities closer, and pushing communities to engage. Nothing makes a game more amazing, and increases replay value than a game that strengthens communities, and creates constructive/competitive ways for them to interact with one another :)
