French MMO DOFUS heads to tablets and the big screen

You might think a game launched in 2004 not named World of Warcraft might be curbing its ambition here in 2015, but if you’re talking about French MMO DOFUS, you’d be mighty wrong. Ankama and Wizcorp this week announced that the game is due for a tablet version with a refreshed mobile UI. The downside is that it won’t be “synchronized with the desktop and streaming version, available on dedicated servers,” meaning tablet players will be starting fresh.

Desktop players have a new update of their own to look forward to; Raiders of the Temples of the Twelve launched this week and infested the game with brand-new bounty monsters.

Ankama’s ambitions are already legendary; this little game has already spawned a manga series, collectible figurines, and TV series (its sibling Wakfu has an anime series of its own). It’s recently made the leap to the big screen — yes, it’s getting a movie. In fact, Ankama is running a massive contest that’ll grant the winning DOFUS guilds a chance to be featured in that very movie:

We’re not just talking about a mere mention in the “Thanks” section of the credits, either! We’re talking about little scenes created specially for you, in the opening credits, where your coat of arms and guild name will be clearly visible! And yes, you read that right, it’s “sceneS”, plural: 9 guilds will be placed under the spotlight. The whole world will know about you!

Registration for the contest ends May 4th. Chop chop!
