Facing down an impatient and unsatisfied World of Warcraft community, Blizzard is firing off the biggest bullet it can this holiday season with a brand-new content update. Patch 8.1: Tides of Vengeance is live today, but it remains to be seen how much of a panacea for grumbling players it will prove to be.
The motto of this patch is “more of the same.” World of Warcraft is expanding its war campaign, bringing in a new Darkshore warfront, upgrading island expeditions, giving Dwarves and Blood Elves heritage armor, and allowing players to earn specific azerite armor.
It should be noted that the patch is rolling out in phases over the next month, so not everything is unlocking today. More of the war campaign will become available on December 18th, with Mythic Season 2 and the Battle of Dazar’alor raid coming next year on January 22nd.
