One Shots: 100% pure nightmare fuel

Oh hey! Nice to see you there! Do you think that you can stop screaming quite so loud? Yes, I know that our header today will cause many sleepless nights and cause great anxiety the next time you step in an MMO. But there’s a very important and beneficial reason for me to shove this in your face. It amuses me.

And if you happen to find yourself in Black Desert any time soon and see glitchy nightmare fuel like this, maybe you can do something about it. “The reason PvP exists is to destroy monstrosities like this,” Vunak told us. See? It’s not just to give lazy MMO devs an easy way to create “content” for us!

Anyway, let’s see if we can take you screams down a notch from “bloodcurdling” to “whimpering” by the end of this column.

I asked our readers last week to share some of the MMO pictures that made us laugh, especially when the carefully staged scene didn’t turn out as well as expected. Here’s a great example from one Final Fantasy XIV player who found that minipets have a mind of their own.

“Unfortunately I do not have any screenshots with cat minions (even though I have them), but I do have a few others,” said Random MMO Fan. “Here’s a unicolt trying to photobomb our group.”

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a great fan of cats. You should go to Eliot for such things. I see cats as small tigers who live in your house, not as a willing pet but as a predator biding its time until you let your guard down and expose your jugular.

Or, you know, you try to take a pic.

“Cats are so persistent in BDO,” said Black Desert. “Always photobombing a good screenshot!”

There’s been a murder! Madame Jacobson is dead, and we’re rounding up all of the likely suspects. The problem is that there are too many people with motives against her, especially after she brought down the orphan circus and made a coat of their puppies.

At least we know that Hurbster didn’t do it in Elder Scrolls Online, because he told us so. That’s good enough for me.

Missing Christmas already? Here’s a weird last gasp of the season, brought to you by Angry Female Superman Claus in DC Universe Online.

“This shot reminds me of Mr. Furious’s Boundless Rage,” said Hikari.

Is your life lacking a purpose until you have a new screenshot challenge? Well then, here you go: Show off a location or structure in an MMO that you would love to be your own personal housing if you had that option! Where would your character live?

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
