The Daily Grind: Would you play Overwatch if it had a PvE or co-op mode?

Overwatch had a strange 2018. While Blizzard expanded the game’s developer team last year, it also put out less content (and more repeat content) than the year before, to much grumbling from its playerbase, and that, we assume, helped knock it out of the revenue rankings the last couple of months.

That said, the expanded dev team must be working on something big, right? I’m fond of the theories that Blizzard will be taking a page out of the Dota 2, League of Legends, and SMITE playbooks to add some sort of co-op PvE mode or even a single-player expansion to the game this year. Of course, what I’d really like is for it to spring MMO wings, but I rather doubt Blizzard’s sights are set so high. A co-op PvE map that actually makes use of the game’s elaborate backstory? Yeah, that’d be neat.

Would you play Overwatch if it had a PvE or co-op mode? What do you think Blizzard is up to over there?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
