For a game entitled New World, the upcoming title from Amazon sure does feel familiar if you’re an MMO veteran. After all, the progression system? That’s pretty understandable for any veterans. Crafting and player housing? You know how that works. Not that any of that is a bad thing. Just a familiar thing.
Are you familiar with all of this week’s beta news, though? Let’s high some highlights.
- Blue Protocol is gearing up for a beta livestream and info drop on June 18th, which is welcome news for anyone following the game with interest. It’s still all in Japanese, but them’s the breaks.
- Speaking of things in testing in Japan, Lost Ark is… well, that. It continues to not be announced for anywhere over here, however.
- The developers of Dual Universe have showed off the game’s SvS combat. That’s “ship vs. ship,” if you weren’t clear. It’s space boats blowing up other space boats.
- And speaking of blowing up space boats, EVE Echoes is now offering one final playtest before the game formally launches. So many space boats can be blown up and left in wreckage.
Boats in space! Japanese games! New worlds! What amazing new vistas can be found down below in the list? Well, mostly familiar ones, actually, because that’s all about the games we know are in testing. As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.
