Don’t let Guild Wars 2’s performance in NCsoft’s Q3 financials get you down: The next chunk of the Janthir Wilds expansion is just around the corner. It’s called Godspawn, and it’s literally launching in just one week.
“The first expansion content release for Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds arrives with a series of titanic clashes against the primal forces of the wilderness. Launching on Tuesday, November 19 and titled Godspawn, this latest update will continue the story begun at launch. After coming face-to-face with the massive elemental beings known as titans, players will work with their Kodan allies to track down these behemoths to stop the chaos that looms over Janthir. A new legendary weapon, the Klobjarne spear, will give players six different possible looks for the blade as they jump into combat. Additionally, for the first time in five years, a new raid arrives in the game. Intrepid groups of up to 10 players will climb Mount Balrior to face off against the titans of Janthir in a challenging gauntlet of encounters that will reward them with some of the content’s marquee items and cosmetics.”
And if you’re a fan of the Decima fight, get ready to do it again – but this time as a 50-person convergence, which also lands in the update.
Do note that you’ll need to have purchased Janthir Wilds to access to the new stuff, and there are two more updates after this one bundled into the year-long expansion cycle.
“In next week’s update, we will be introducing our new 10-person raid, which will take you to Mount Balrior. It features three bosses and several smaller, varied encounters that will test your coordination and adaptability. At the heart of Mount Balrior’s narrative are Greer, the Blightbringer, and Decima, the Stormsinger, the two titans you battled in Janthir Syntri. After their defeat, they’ve retreated to Mount Balrior to recover and regroup. This time, they won’t be alone. Their raid versions bring back the chaotic, relentless attacks of Greer and the structured, strategic mechanics of Decima, but cranked up to new levels of intensity. Expect familiar moves executed in ways that will keep your group on their toes, along with a few completely new surprises that Greer and Decima have in store.”
The devs also bring players up to speed on planned WvW updates, with tweaks for scoring, the siege system, objective lords, rewards, and accessibility. GW2 is also destined for the Epic Games Store later in November.
ArenaNet concludes with a fresh roadmap; we’re looking at a newbie event starting November 12, Evon Gnashblade’s “birthday bash” from November 25th onward, and Wintersday kicking off on December 10th.
