Valiance Online puts out a call for hurricane heroes for charity event

When real-life tragedy occurs, it’s perfectly OK to give priority to assistance over interest in video games. But what if you could do both?

Valiance Online has joined the growing club of MMOs and communities looking to do something to ease the suffering and assist in the recovery for those affected by the recent hurricanes in North America. For the duration of this Wednesday, September 13th, the superhero title will shunt all donations made on its website to hurricane relief instead of game development.

This puts Valiance in good company. Final Fantasy XIV’s community recently ran a blood and charity drive for victims of the hurricanes, Destiny 2’s Bungie organized charity events, and even Ultima Online chipped in by disabling housing decay while hurricane victims get back on their feet.

September 12th, 2017 — SilverHelm Studios has announced that all donations made to Valiance Online on Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 (12:00am-11:59pm CST) will instead go to hurricane relief. People who choose to donate that day will still receive the rewards appropriate to the amount of their donation.

“Our hearts go out to all the families affected by Hurricane Harvey. We care about community and want to do our part to help those afflicted by the devastation. For this reason we are dedicating 100% of crowdfunding on Wednesday to provide much needed support to those affected in Houston,” said Chad Dulac, Chief Operating Officer, SilverHelm Studios.

All money raised in this 24 hour period will be donated to Direct Relief via PayPal’s donation system.

● Donations can be made on Wednesday at https://valiance.shogn.net/donate

“Every donator will receive Valiance Online’s corresponding game rewards, including access to our playable Alpha, with all proceeds going to a much needed cause. We empathize with all hurricane victims in Texas and elsewhere and wish for their safety during these difficult times,” said Dulac.
