The Daily Grind: If you had your way, what one MMO patch in history would you roll back?

Rollbacks are in the news lately, and not for great reasons – some Guild Wars 2 players did indeed lose hours of time played this week, even though compensation’s now been pushed out. In the downtime hubbub, I saw an amazing thread on the GW2 subreddit about a rollback people actually did want: a rollback to classic Lion’s Arch.

That’s never going to happen, but I miss the old version too – a lot. I miss a lot of old versions of things. I wish Ultima Online would roll back to before Magincia was destroyed for the same reasons – or maybe just before the Age of Shadows patch. I wish we could roll back Star Wars Galaxies so the NGE never happened (but we got all the post-NGE content anyway). I wish we could roll back WoW to before Cataclysm and see what other directions Blizzard might have gone.

So let’s talk about the rollbacks we do want. If you had your way, what one MMO patch in history would you roll back?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
