Massively OP’s not-so-serious end-of-the-year awards continue today with our blooper award for weirdest MMO cross promotion. And the winner is…
Guild Wars 2 bubble tea
It’s admittedly hard to beat Destiny 2-themed candles, but ArenaNet sure tried: This year, it partnered with a bubble tea company, Kung Fu Tea, to dispense Guild Wars 2-themed bubble tea drinks in the real world and in-game items for signing up on the tea shop’s website.
Of course, the whole thing turned out to be a trainwreck of bots and undelivered rewards and post facto rule changes. But still.
Runner-up to Red Dead Redemption 2’s clothing line. Sure, why not. That’s a thing.

How come it’s not getting a FF-XIV wedding, for you real wedding? That’s major compared with everything else. Japan only, but still…
The mobile game Lineage II: Revolutions is having a Batman event for some reason. Nothing like combining middle age high fantasy with modern urban dark fantasy
Fallout rum was a kinda weird promotion, even without its issues.
Hmm. I don’t know. Bubble Tea is a thing.
But RDR2 clothes are “fine apparel”. Can’t say I would have ever thought it possible. They aren’t just shilling t-shirts and logos. This is stuff you wear to impress your girlfriend’s parents. Heh.

All it really is is western wear labeled to promote a western game. Odd would be the walking dead wine.
IS THAT CANVAS?!?!????
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!
Sheez… just spilled my drink everywhere. That reply made my day. It did. Lol!

I just noticed there’s a Kung Fu Tea down the street from the office, I feel like I should go in there now.
I thought this was gonna go to hello kitty in TERA but perhaps that was the year prior.
Heh. Year prior, I believe.
You mean like Defiance’s Hellbugs in Rift? LOL 😈
