This is probably fine: Amazon’s New World will soon move from its test state of “everyone in the test can play whenever” to “no one plays at all, test shut down, we promise something new and good is coming soon.” So either there are actual cool new features on the way or… this is very bad news. Anyone got a coin? While you flip that, check out some other coin-adjacent news from around the MMO betasphere, as it were.
- You’re a talented sort in Dual Universe, or at least you will be when you take advantage of the game’s new talent trees. We’re going to guess that very few of these talent trees will involve actual trees or even plants, but we could be surprised.
- Who wants to check out the Peria Chronicles character creator? You can do that now via video form. Not quite the same as playing around with it yourself, we know.
- It turns out that Star Citizen accidentally wiped out some valuable chassis for players during a recent purge. Not to worry, though, the game is selling you motorcycles! Not space motorcycles, just normal motorcycles. Well, space motorcycles in the sense that you ride them on planets in space, but by that standard motorcycles in the real world are space motorcycles.
- Last but not least, ReWorld has split into two games, one with a full MMO player count and the other with just an eight-person setup. Everyone knows that splitting games presages good things!
Gosh, that got a little dismal. Maybe the list of games in testing below will cheer you up? Or maybe you’re not sad at all, in which case you’ll probably continue feeling fine if and when you inform us about anything we missed, like changing beta status or whatever. Hopefully you’re still feeling perky, you deserve it!
As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.
