We’re going to go ahead and lay out a hot take for all of you this week: Character creation in an MMORPG is pretty important. So it makes sense that Profane would show off all the progress that has been made on character skins since the first character creation testing event for the game. You can read up on the whole thing in the Twitter thread.
It’s been a quiet week for beta news, but there is still more to be learned:
- Guild Wars 2 has kicked off its third elite spec beta for the Specter, Untamed, and Mechanist specializations. It ends on Saturday, though, so get in on that quickly.
- Embers Adrift had a weekend testing event and reported that a pleasant time was had by all.
- Lost Ark is setting its overall beta cadence at this time, although there’s still no word on whether or not you will be able to find the ark. There is, however, word on how you’ll pay for it.
- Last but not least, Diablo Immortal has moved into beta testing in
a desperate ploy to avoid the investor call next weeka totally normal move not motivated by anything.
Hooray for everything being totally normal! Hooray for the list of games in testing just below! Hooray for letting us know if anything skipped to a new test phase in the comments! Hooray for a lot of things.
As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.
