The Daily Grind: Is there a mod for an MMO that you just can’t play without?

I’ve been back in Lord of the Rings Online a bunch lately, and as part of my return I went through and made sure all my mods were updated. I’m a bit of a mod and plugin junkie in MMOs whenever I can be. I paid for UOAssist back in the long long ago, I loved tinkering with texture mods for Star Wars and Guild Wars, and I was that weirdo on the forums testing hundreds of World of Warcraft UI mods for my guildies – and that’s just the MMO side!

In fact, there are some mods that I wouldn’t want to play without. I really can’t abide being a group healer in an MMO without an adequate grid-like mod, for example. I don’t want to play SWG Legends without the mod that takes the plasticky NGE interface and turns it back into the classic version. And no matter the game, I really like mods (or API interfaces) that let me see what crap my alts have in their inventories and banks!

What’s your favorite player-made mod for an MMO? Why can’t you live without it, and does its purpose transcend the MMO it was made in?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
