There’s something enchanting and thrillingly dangerous about stepping into a vast forest in an MMORPG. You never know what may be around the next tree — and if it’s bad, nobody may be close enough to hear your screams.
“I was rather fond of the second Transylvania zone in The Secret World,” ventured Jon. “I don’t recall the name of it anymore, but it was a forest full of vampires, werewolves, guardian spirits, gnomes, and more, and it just looked awesome.”
Redbook posted this amazing Destiny 2 shot. When the background looms like this over the trees, you just know that it’s gargantuan by the scale!
“I really love the frozen hills and forests in Star Citizen,” said Hikari. “I’m looking forward to when we can do some proper camping on Microtech. It looks nice unfrozen, too.”
Of course, exploration through dark and forbidding woods is totally worth it when you find out what hidden gems are hidden by the trees.
“How about a forest that surrounds a faire?” Toy Clown asks. “The Darkmoon Faire in World of Warcraft, to be exact!”
“Ooh, woods!” Sleepy gushed. “I have far too many pics of woods. To be fair you can’t throw a rock in most of Lord of the Rings Online without hitting a tree.”
And in this case, many, many trees.
That’s the end of our column, but not the end of our fun! Go on and post your best pictures from this past week in the comments — and if you want a specific challenge, share a picture of a hidden retreat that goes overlooked in your game.
