EVE Vanguard’s latest test patch includes four new or revamped map variants

Ahead of EVE Vanguard’s multi-game promotional event this Thanksgiving weekend, CCP Games has pushed out the latest patch for the in-development EVE Online franchise shooter.

The patch notes list off multiple new features for the game, including the star map, which allows players to deploy across the galaxy; a 9v9 PvP faction warfare skirmish that ties directly into EVE Online insurgencies; new NPC drones and militia types; new blueprints from the black market; new resources; new music. There’s even a “full icon pass on all items, equipment, and resources,” and we spy revamps for everything from mining and deployment flow to inventory and banking tweaks.

Worth a special note is that CCP is touting a total of four map variants with two environments featuring unique weather, resources, and content tasks: Carrion (returning), Solstice (returning and revamped), Maelstrom (a Solstice variant with monsoon weather effects), and Aftermath (a Carrion variant with lightning effects) – all with “extensive visual and gameplay improvements).

The EVE Vanguard crossover event with EVE Online players is open to all EVE Online players, even those without subs; it officially kicks off on November 28th, effectively giving everyone a chance to scope out the test game.

“The war is coming to EVE Vanguard from 28 November – 9 December, as warclone testing concludes and the Vanguard get ready for their first full-fledged operation: YC126.11.28 Groundbreak. As before, this deployment is open to all Omega clones, but will now offer greatly expanded access with new opportunities for Alphas as well as newcomers to the EVE Universe to jump into the fray. The time has come to choose your allegiance. Descend to planet surfaces and ascend to greatness, as you make your mark in New Eden. Your footsteps may be small, but your next shot will topple empires.”
