Sci-fi and fantasy post-apoc fans are in for a treat today as Hanmaru Soft and InselGames have formally announced Trinium Wars for PC. Touting ex-SEGA and ex-Blizzard artist Jang Wook Lee’s involvement, the MMORPG has launched its Steam’s early access program page today and will launch for play on February 17th.

Trinium Wars is a post-apocalyptic Sci Fi MMORPG set in the remains of Planet Earth after World War III. Join the fight for the rarest substance in the universe: Trinium. Support the Human forces to reconquer their home planet, which they had to leave after the devastating consequences of World War III, or join forces with the alien Narc, who found Earth in the search for a new home. Varied quests will lead you through the story of Trinium Wars. Special instance missions allow you to transform into tanks or Robots. As high level content up to 1000 players can fight at the same time in the “Resource War” mode, building up camps and mining precious Trinium. In addition to PvE gameplay and the PvP focused “Resource War,” Trinium Wars offers an additional MOBA themed, arena-style PVP mode while the base-building mode will allow for more tactical choices and the power to craft new equipment, potions and even skills.

We last heard from Lee in 2011, when as head of Nitrozen he was pitching Living After War (L.A.W.), a post-apoc MMO with plenty of similarities to the new game. L.A.W. went into closed beta in 2012 and sunsetted on the Alaplaya platform.

The press release further promises auction hall trading, a customizable UI, base construction, and 1000-player faction-based PvP. Check out the trailer and screenshots below.

Caley Caley, I am SO with you on this thought.  There are a few sci fi mmo’s…but no one ..maybe with the exception of Destiny..but with a total lack of content..meh..also its a shooter.  I too want a true to form MMORPG with sci fi theme and gameplay…gunplay especially.  I don’t know why this concept seems to be so hard or elusive for dev’s to get or create.  Take a hunter from the fantasy MMO and give them some futuristic combat armor, and an assault rifle instead of a bow, and maybe an energy claw to finish off their prey…that’s all I am asking for!  That’s why I have high hopes for this game…ever since the dissolution of THQ…right as they were making their Warhammer 40,000 MMO (pretty much looked like an exact copy of WoW as far as mechanics but with updated graphics and in the 40k universe) Dark Millenium Online, I have been waiting and searching for something similar…again..there is very little.  Now…just in case you didn’t know Caley..there is a star wars MMO that is pretty much WoW with a star wars skin, it even has heavy story elements and cinematics, its ok…but to me..its still a movie made into a game..which usually doesn’t go too well imo.  Also, there is Wildstar Online, its very polished sci-fi MMO…what stopped me 20 lvls in was purely style, its a quality game, but its a little too silly for me and non-traditional sci fi as far as weapons and roles go.  Anyways, from one pining sci fi fan to another, I hear ya friend!

I was all set to become optimistic. Then I saw the UI.

I think I’ll stick with Defiance. Best of luck to them, though.

Well…on the bright side, it’s still a bit more evolved than that Smed’s 32 bit MMO he’s working on. o.O

orionite Xyggy Even though I like anime art style, skimpy clothes, and post apocalyptic, I have to agree this looks very generic. The art direction seems like it to incorporate bits of everything, but ends up with a standard korean look anyways.
