Fellow MMO housing fans, furbish up your design skills because we’re going to Janthir Wilds today.

Yes, Guild Wars 2’s latest expansion officially rolls out today. Janthir Wilds is B2P for a one-time fee of $24.99 (on up if you want a loaded pack), which includes all four major patches as they roll out over the next year. The first of these includes the tentpole features of the new explorable maps, new land spear mastery, a massive update to the warclaw mount that brings it into the PvE realm, a 50-person instanced “convergence” raid, new world boss events, and of course, homesteads.

“Janthir Wilds will grant players a plot of land and their own housing space to decorate and customize, with the freedom to place objects and props through a brand new set of tools. The expansion will launch with over 300 individual decoration items, with more to come in following updates. Featuring a mount stable, room for alternate characters to hang out, and resource gathering improvements, homesteads will provide a new way to express personal identity in the world of Tyria.”

Moving through the rest of the year and into next summer, updates will include a legendary spear and backpack, two more maps, and “for the first time in five years, a new raid, 10-player instances with unique story beats and challenging boss encounters.”

MOP’s own Colin got a detailed hands-on look at the expansion last week, finding the housing and warclaw content particularly juicy. Have fun storming decorating the castle! Official launch is at noon EDT.
