The next patch for Final Fantasy XIV is on its way, with patch 7.1, Crossroads, scheduled for a mid-November launch. As is tradition, producer and director Naoki Yoshida offered a preview in the form of the game’s most recent live letter during the Tokyo Game Show, and that includes an all-new form of alliance raid challenge with the Chaotic difficulty. The first such fight will bring players into a battle against the Cloud of Darkness with all-new mechanics and, according to Yoshida, incentives to re-clear with people who haven’t yet attempted the fight.

A new housing feature to change the housing interior design regardless of location is also on the way, with Yoshida teasing the possibility of allowing larger interiors than exteriors at some point later in the patch cycle. Also on display were a few snippets of the next series of main scenario quests, the new dungeon set in Heritage Found (Yuweyawawata Field Station), the new alliance raid Jeuno: The First Walk (crossing over with Final Fantasy XI’s setting of Vana’diel), and new Pelupelu-centered combat allied society quests. Keep your eyes peeled for more details as the patch draws ever closer.
