Oh Anvil Empires, MMO players are just not paying any attention to you, but they should be, as Siege Camp’s Foxhole has gained a steady fanbase and the studio continues to pour effort into its purer MMORPG sandbox. The latest dev blog is probably also not going to light the world on fire, although if you left the world on it long enough, it might, as it’s literally introducing the heating vat, the latest in a long line of granular crafting objects that play into the world’s sandbox economic systems.
“As part of the continuing effort to build out the crafting economy at Homesteads, the Heating Vat is being introduced for processing one or more ingredients into materials through boiling, brewing, and melting,” the studio says. Players will find that they’ll have to experiment with different types of fuels to get the right temperature for whatever they’re trying to actually craft, then jack up the heat with bellows.
The end of the dev blog also teases the expansion of the family homesteading system.
“One of the common requests from the last few tests has been to expand the functionality of the Family Homestead structure to make it more useful (beyond it being just a requirement for a Homestead Area). In the last Minor Test, an inventory and the ability to manage Families directly from the Homestead were added. To take things even further now, an interior has also been added to the Homestead so that initial Family members can build Beds and other interior structures without having to build separate Houses. By removing the additional pre-requisite of building a separate House, the process of joining the game and starting a Homestead is further simplified.”
