This is the griffon.

Today we’re continuing our countdown of Massively OP’s weirdest MMORPG stories of 2018!

Coming in at #3 on our list is…

An interview with the big griffon statue

So one of ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2 convention things this year has been bringing a big statue and setting it up for people to climb up on and snap selfies. At PAX East, it was a giant effigy of a griffon – you know, like the kind you can ride thanks to the Path of Fire endgame. Naturally, Eliot took the opportunity to interview “Feathers,” and it isn’t just Eliot being silly; he used the mock interview as a vehicle for criticizing the con’s design.

“Let me tell you something, snackbag,” Feathers said, not even bothering to disguise how much he wanted to eat the humans posing on his back. “I’ve done a lot of various conventions over the years; the tabletop gaming boom in the ’70s was really good to me. And I must say that this is actually one of the worst experiences I’ve had as a mythical creature, something that lines up nicely with reports I had heard from previous years thanks to the electricity demons.”

Stay tuned tomorrow for another entry in the countdown, and don’t forget to check out our annual MMORPG awards and our blooper awards while you’re at it!
