One Shots: Getting all down and cozy

I love a good cozy place in an MMO, moreso if it’s got a fully stocked snack bar and some of my all-time favorite heroes willing to hang out with me. So how about finding a place to settle down in Lord of the Rings Online?

“In a game full of cozy places, Tom Bombadil’s house was a memorable one for me because of the frustrating maze I had to navigate to get there,” shared Hirku. “It was a genuine relief to see Tom skipping about and be greeted with that joyous theme when I entered.”

I’ve always wished that this house layout would be available as a player housing option!

Elder Scrolls Online may just be the most visually stunning MMORPG behind Black Desert Online,” said Godnaz.

I picked this lush vista from a whole album of equally lovely (and occasionally horrifying) pictures. It’s exactly the kind of place that draws you right into a fantasy realm.

Since World of Warcraft (still) doesn’t have player housing, Utakata has to take shelter at the local Comfort Inn. Ever notice that none of these inns have any doors? Guess there’s no such thing as privacy or sound sleep in Azeroth…

“I just noticed while playing Star Trek Online today that, during the most-recent game maintenance, the developers swapped in black Starfleet banners on the side of the Deep Space Nine space station which houses Quark’s bar,” Mysecretid said. “The banners are, no doubt, meant to honor actor Aron Eisenberg — who played Quark’s nephew Nog on DS9 — as the actor recently passed away far too young after a lifetime of serious kidney-related health issues. The banners seem to exist to honor both Eisenberg and the in-universe character he portrayed — a classy, subtle tribute by the developers, in my opinion.”

Hey guys! JonBuck is inviting us back to a free company apartment in Final Fantasy XIV! Feel free to walk around with muddy shoes and root through drawers all willy-nilly. It looks too nice otherwise.

You look like you need a weekly screenshot challenge to give your life some added purpose. Why not post a picture of something that really annoys you in an MMO and give us some explanation as to why!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
