MassivelyOP’s 2025 Golden Yachties: Best worst place to stream an MMO

The Golden Yachties series is MassivelyOP’s annual set of fauxwards, named in honor of some guy who was convinced we are all making bank writing about MMORPGs and that it is so lucrative that we’re typing MMO blog posts from a gold-plated yacht. Did Poe’s Law apply? Nobody knows. We’re enjoying the view from the yacht’s deck, shown above, however.

Today, we reveal our pick for best worst place an MMO studio streamed an MMO from this year. And the winner is…

Lava caves

When EVE Online launched its Catalyst expansion back in November, CCP Games did the most Iceland thing ever: It streamed the release from inside a lava cave. Specifically, the devs streamed from inside the famed Lava Tunnel, a major tourist attraction in the region. I have nothing funny to add here; honestly, this is geeky and badass and we love it.
