One Shots: The Old Lion’s Arch Fan Club

While it was certainly gutsy for Guild Wars 2 to smash up and replace the main city hub of Lion’s Arch back in the day as part of its evolving storyline, it’s always felt to me that the new is far more inferior to the old. The original Lion’s Arch, with its pirate theming and ship-buildings, exuded a personality that the shiny new version can’t match.

Maybe we need a club of us Old Lion’s Arch fans? While we mull that, we can revisit the past in a fashion thanks to Katriana’s screenshot of ye olde towne from a recent MOP livestream.

Heading from sea level to the lofty heights of the mountains, we find Utakata scraping against the roof of the world in Blade and Soul. Be careful, little one, for it is a great fall for one as aspirational as you.

Hikari captured a bittersweet moment of reality crashing into video games: “The Secret World RP community said goodbye to one of its longest-standing members yesterday. There was a lovely memorial that I was able to attend and took a few pictures.”

“Happy Spooky Month!” declared Josh. “As it’s October I decided to do some fun shots with the bun in Final Fantasy XIV.”

So instead of a wooden stake through the heart, would a sharpened carrot suffice to put down this monster?

“I know LOTRO will never, ever have a system like gpose (I mean, can you imagine? With the state of that game it would crash outright.),” said Vincent. “And it haunts me, because some of the places in-game are beautiful–even with that dated engine. But, I digress…here is my elf hunter having ‘fun’ in Eregion.”

Post whatever pictures you like down in the comments, but don’t forget that this is October — and it’s the perfect season for spooky and creepy visions!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
