Co-op survivalbox Enshrouded just launched into Steam early access

When I logged into my guild’s Discord this morning, I realized half my crew was excitedly chattering about Enshrouded, multiplayer survival sandbox that we have covered, twice, and managed to make so little impression on me that I’d pretty much forgotten all about it. I had certainly forgotten that Keen Games’ sandbox was arriving to Steam early access today, in any case.

Well, I’m rectifying that now, and if anyone out there is interesting in playing any survival sandbox but Palworld at the moment – especially something more akin to Valheim – this might be for you.

“Enshrouded is a game of survival, crafting, and Action RPG combat, set within a sprawling voxel-based continent. As you journey across the mountains and deserts of an open world, you are free to choose your path and shape your destiny. […] You start with nothing but the will to survive the wilds. You must scrape and scavenge through the ruined remnants of a lost kingdom, and fend off the beasts that hunger for your flesh. Journey through forests, caves, dungeons, searching for secret knowledge and treasure. Build the strength to venture into the Shroud and bring the fight back to the horrors of the deep.”

It’s not an MMO, mind you; the servers can hold just 16 people in a co-op format. Console plans are still in the works. All the usual early access caveats apply – Keen says it plans to fully launch out of early access within a year – but it’s currently just gone live on Steam for sale at just a hair under 27 bucks.

As my guildies point out, the launch isn’t going great; there’s already an 11-page thread about crashes on the serverlist.
