I can’t tell if Deekay Plus’ headlining shot from Fallout 76 here is that of a gorgeous West Virginia sunrise — or an in-progress nuclear blast. Either way, props for taking a quick screenshot before a light tanning or severe fallout enuses!
Of course, he couldn’t resist getting that song stuck back in our heads: “Country roads west virginia take me home country roads country roadssssssssss.”
Thank you so much for that.
I was pretty excited to see the entries for last week’s screenshot challenge, which called for readers to submit pictures of places in MMOs that are no longer or have changed significantly.
Hirku started off that challenge with this: “For this week, here are a few memorable moments from my Wandering Isle adventure in World of Warcraft. I guess this shot kind-of qualifies for the challenge in that–as far as I know–there’s no way for me to go back to this place.”
That’s-a big turtle!
“Part of why I fell in love with Guild Wars 2 was due to the feel of the original Lion’s Arch,: said Toy Clown. “It felt like a breathing, pirate city. I found it the most unique settlement of all the MMOs I have played. It was inspiring enough that I created a pirate character and guild. It was so sad when it was rebuilt to look like a… tourist town.”
“Related to this is the removal of the The Secret World Faction Training rooms,” said Hikari. “They’re still there, but (as with many TSW/SWL zones) you see them once and never again. Faction training rooms used to be great additional areas to gather in and without them, I couldn’t have gotten this shot for The Secret Buzz. (Being a photographer is dangerous business).”
How sad was it that when I first saw this picture, I thought those were pretty rose petals?
Katriana takes us way back in time for this one: “It’s not much because I never was much of a screenshot taker, but I did find this pic that shows a bit of the original Freeport in EverQuest. UI elements cropped out and guildies’ names blurred just because.”
How so very far we have come in MMOs! Well, graphically, at least.
I’ve got it, you want it — this week’s screenshot challenge, that is! Our theme this week is “weather in progress,” so submit a pic of weather happening in MMOs, whether that be snow falling, a tornado whipping up, fog descending, or something else!
