One Shots: A view to a kill

Considering which side of our characters we look at the most, it bewilders me how little customization that MMO designers give to the back of our toons. Where are the neck hair sliders? The options to have a hunchback or jutting shoulder blades? And why can’t I give every hero I’ve played a buttocks big enough to deflect intercontinental missiles?

At least Guy is having fun playing from the back: “I’ve attached a really mint screenie from Neverwinter’s new Undermountain zone. The story is, I logged out on this cliff edge in a hurry, and when I logged back in the next day the camera was in just the right position to make me see this fantastic view!”

Meanwhile over in Star Citizen, your hundreds of millions of dollars are being put to good use by creating SPACE FASHION. MurderHobo is looking tops ‘n’ tails today!

“A bit late to the party, but here goes,” he posted. “This is what the fashionable Space Captain MurderHobo of means is wearing this season in the Verse.”

More readers continued to strut onto our virtual catwalk in last week’s One Shots, including Bereman. Is it hard to take a bad screenshot in Final Fantasy XIV, I ask you? I mean, you’d really have to try.

“Simple and a bit elegant, and a frequent favorite spot for screenshots in FFXIV,” Bereman posted. “Here’s my latest outfit my currently being leveled class, White Mage.”

Hugmonster’s sleek outfit from Warframe disturbed a lot of readers — presumably in a good way. Kind of reminds me of a poisonous spider or that one geek who spent a few hundred dollars too much on last year’s Halloween party costume and ended up shaming everyone else out of the house.

“No fashion show, not even pretty nebulae shots or planetary vistas from me this week,” said Ryuen. “I will however share a moment on my travels in Elite: Dangerous this week that made me pause and reflect: the moment I visited a memorial for a fellow CMDR.”

For this week’s screenshot challenge, let’s have some weird fun with character creators! Log in to your favorite game and make the most off-putting, disturbing, and ugly character that you can — and then post it for us! Bonus points if you actually play that character for any length of time!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!

I mean, it’s basically the Trans Pride color palette, so it works.

I’ve already inflicted this upon the staff, but does it count as character creation if you skin your own corpses, stuff them and make a diorama? ‘cuz you can do that in ARK.

…something looks oddly pixelated. And I’m not talking about the image on the sign. >.<

After many weeks away, I think I may finally have a couple of screenshots worth sharing on the Mr. Justin Show, here on Massively.

After a ridiculous number of hours in-game in No Man’s Sky, I did ultimately find a planet with oceans deep enough to allow me to build an undersea base for my character!

Since The Abyss expansion released, many planets in the game have oceans, but on most of the worlds I’ve surveyed, the planetary oceans were barely deep enough to fully cover an underwater base.

Finally, out in what No Man’s Sky calls an uncharted system (i.e. a system with no starbase belonging to one of the game’s three major races), I found this unusual-looking world, half of which was submerged in water.

I figured these pics, taken from a tiny island, might be worthwhile; meanwhile, I’m working on building my underwater base. If it works out, I’ll post pics of it at a later date.

Cheers, all!

-“No, please! Please, don’t do this to me!”

Sorry, in the end I didn’t have the heart to impose those changes on that char(r).

It’s an exclusive hairstyle, mind you!

I’m glad i have Revelation Online installed, because WoW does not provide a good character creator, RO provide slides, and slides mean you can create horrors, like this fine fellow, meet Henry.

Well, I don’t really do ugly screenshots, so I’ll have to give you a shot or two of Acid Rainbow, Praetorian Spectra-Lass, who can sometimes be difficult to look at for too long.
