The Daily Grind: What’s the longest time period you’ve ever subbed to a single MMO?

This question is a bit biased toward the subscription era of MMOs, but I think it still has some relevance given just how many MMOs still have at least a hybrid sub, right?

I suspect for me it’s EverQuest; that would’ve been something like 2.5 years, and while I took breaks, I don’t think I stopped subbing until I was done and moving on to Dark Age of Camelot. I have a lot of MMOs that lasted a year or two for sure, and several more like World of Warcraft, Ultima Online, and Star Wars Galaxies, to which I’ve subbed repeatedly for far longer – but not all in a row. Lately, of course, it’s been Lord of the Rings Online collecting my sub money, but it’s got a long way to go to dethrone the original crop of MMOs.

What’s the longest time period you’ve ever subbed to a single MMO, all in a row with no breaks at all?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
