One Shots: Swords and other pointy things

What are swords good for? For one thing, they make excellent pointers, communicating to your audience that this thing over here is what you’re discussing. Still confused? Give them a swat with the broadside of the blade or even a shallow wound, as that has the intended effect of sharpening one’s attention.

Reader Rozyn knows all about how to use her sword to the best of her abilities: “Still reppin’ the RIFT screenshots. Had to take a few of my Cleric pointing her sword at… stuff.”

Everyone, look. Look at the stuff. Marvel at the stuff. And whatever you do, don’t let your attention falter. That could have lethal consequences.

Reader Tyler takes us shopping in a most unusual location in The Secret World.

“We see my Dragon alt browsing the selection at the record store in London,” he wrote. “All the music that plays there was actually submitted by players as part of a contest a few years ago. The banner at the back shows their names. It’s pretty neat.”

“No shortage of great pictures of eyes available in Black Desert Online,” Michael submitted. “The ‘idle time’ screen saver mode provides some of the best opportunities to grab screens. I’ve taken quite a few lately as the recently released Kunoichi class has become my favourite by a wide margin. I couldn’t resist an opportunity to snap a shot with the moon as a backdrop.”

Camelotcrusade gets a gold star for making me laugh with this one.

“Here’s the SWTOR companion I also consider a vanity pet. And the second shot (from the interwebs) indicates both the size of her presence (she won’t. shut. up.) and how I feel about her.”

My call for pictures of pets did not go unheeded. ReesRacer showed us all that even a world-ending villain can make for a spiffy sidekick in Marvel Heroes.

“Here’s Captain Marvel in her best costume, in my opinion, with my favourite pet, Ultron (a bit smaller and less menacing). Also excited that Brie Larson got the role for the upcoming film adaptation. Looks like we might be ready for a game of pool with She-Hulk at Avengers Tower.”

I’ve been inspired by Tyler for the theme of this week’s screenshot challenge: pictures of in-game vendors, stores, and shops. Sometimes I get up close to these stalls and find that the devs have planted some truly weird Easter eggs for the observant to discover.

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
