We are going to kick off this week’s exhibition of player screenshots with a few email submissions (yes, some of you still email them in, and bless you for it!).
It doesn’t take much of an excuse for a celebration to break out in Final Fantasy XIV, as Souseiseki notes: “A certain Miqo’te had a little too much fun celebrating Heavensturn (and too much to drink!). Although, I think she had more fun opening the bottles than actually drinking them! Fortunately, I had the foresight to hide the good stuff. Don’t worry, her chocobo was parked safe in the stables and we confiscated her saddle.”
Postscript: That chocobo was later seen perched high on top of a temple summit, wrapped in toilet paper and spray painted with an incomprehensible slogan.
“Here is a picture of Ul’dah as seen when traveling there aboard an airship,” François said. “I know it’s not for you, but I just love how peaceful the game world feels, despite the murderous beasts all over the place. The people, the vistas, and the music make it a serene experience.”
Actually, I did appreciate how relaxing, detailed, and beautiful the world was, and the music does a great job to seal the experience. Could’ve done without the moogles, though.
Bullwraith is on a fashion tear: “We have been giving RIFT a lot of grief lately for good reason, but the fact is that the dye and wardrobe system is so flexible that creativity reins free. I am frequently blown away by the beautiful creations that players weave together. And of course RIFT has the best-looking Elves in any video game!”
Weirdly enough, we had a LOT of RIFT submissions this past week. Guess y’all are going back to the game?
“This one is one of the more amusing images I still have archived from the late, great City of Heroes,” writes Logan. “I hated Crey Snipers. Even on a character who could really no longer be hit by them, such as my main hero Cyberman 8 in the following shot. ‘BOOT TO THE HEAD *SH-BOOMF!*'”
So, so many great city submissions last week, but I’m going to give this last spot to Skoryy for a unique view from Guild Wars 2. Anytime I get up this high in-game, I feel like Batman. Then I usually plummet to my death, unlike Batman.
“The neatest thing about mounts is how much of the map they’ve opened up to access. Here’s my little thief now taking in an incredible view of Divinity’s Reach,” Skoryy said.
Whenever I’m taking a long automated flight from point A to B in an MMO, I find myself looking for cool aerial pictures to take of the landscape below. Bar that, I take a picture of myself flying, because I am that vain. If you’ve done this too, well, wing ’em our way for this week’s screenshot challenge!
