Midweek Mop Up: GTAO, Ubisoft, Path of Exile, Heroes & Generals, Foxhole, Vindictus, Crew 2, War of Rights, and more

It would not be unfair to say that this week has been one of the most news-heavy weeks of the year, to the point that Justin actually protested yesterday that there was already too much set aside for our traditional end-of-the-week Mop Up – and it was only Tuesday. He had signs and everything. So we’ve decided to yoink a few stories from our newsroom that might otherwise sit until the weekend roundups because of just how many companies are trying to get out their news and updates before the holidays. (Seriously folks, save something for next week!)

So what’s on our list?

Rockstar announced “Arena War” for Grand Theft Auto Online, “the greatest orgy of sports and automotive gladiatorial combat in human history. The most deranged vehicles! The most brutal weapons! The biggest crowds!” The most superlative superlatives!

Remember back when Ubisoft started auto bans for profanity in Rainbow Six Siege? Yeah, it’s pulling that back a bit. It’s almost like potty mouths were the least of the game’s toxicity problems.

Path of Exile’s Betrayal was already on PC as of last week, and now it’s on Xbox One too, plus Grinding Gear gas been busy mopping up – see what I did there – bugs from the PC launch.

Conqueror’s Blade is planning an open siege event this weekend:

“On the weekend of December 15 and 16, My.com is opening the servers for its medieval MMO Conqueror’s Blade and for the first time anyone with Warlord aspirations will be able to participate by simply registering at cb.my.com. For this special event, Booming will add new maps and units to the existing siege test build to add variety and allow for even more tactical creativity.”

The Crew 2 is also running a free-play weekend, if smashing cars is more your thing.

Heroes & Generals’ Stronghold update is live.

Sea of Thieves’ quality-of-life update left port this morning:

Osiris New Dawn is working toward its next big update next week on the 17th. Expect more on that when it happens! (Thanks, Kinya!)

Foxhole rolled out Foundation of War today: “This major update features fully realized urban warfare, battle tanks, super weapons and other conflict-changing content to allow hundreds of players to continually work together to shape the outcome of a persistent online war.”

War of Rights, newly in early access, issued its roadmap for development; it includes work on musicians and horses.

Finally, Vindictus pushed live the new character, Grimden, Nexon was teasing earlier in the month. Skills include:

Phantom Strider: This ability allows Grimden to have phantom-like mobility, allowing rapid movements. When the Phantom Stride is activated, there will be an increase in characters stamina recovery and buff to their dodge skill.

Aerial Evasion: Grimden will guard foes’ attack from the rear and escape the crisis. His final position will be behind a foe so he will be able to quickly react and activate the most optimal attack or defense skill accordingly and strike at the right moment.

Million Daggers: Grimden actives his cloning technique and his clones will scatter daggers everywhere. The assassin won’t be attacked while the skill is active, and the hit count changes depending on enemy location.

Lethal Crosscut: This will allow for players to execute complete annihilation of their foes. With unpredictable and fast strikes, foes will be defeated within a blink of an eye.
