One Shots: Sailing into the port of 2022

Twenty Twenty-Two ho! As we sail into unexplored territories, Rees Racer is kicking off a new year of One Shots with a farewell to the old.

“I’ll leave 2021 with a holiday-themed shot from port in World of Warships. Historically, the German battlecruiser KMS Scharnhorst was a ship with a lively, brief career. It was finally sunk by a combined force of Royal Navy vessels off the north coast of Norway 78 years ago today on 26 December, 1943. In WoWS, it is represented as a tier VII battleship, and is great fun to play. Happy Holidays, and here’s to 2022 being a good year for all, and for gaming!”

“So keeping things pretty sparse this time (and no Dutch angles), but here’s my FFXIV Warrior of Light, Celie. Catching a shooting star cross the moon as the dawn is starting to break feels like it might be the most perfect thing to catch in a screenshot, at least for this expansion.”

Fun fact: When you’re a superhero like Utakata, it’s totally easy to decorate your trees in City of Heroes for Christmas! I have to think that a lot of flight-capable heroes would contract themselves out for the holidays.

Katriana brought us a picture of some flora from Guild Wars 2: “This one taken in Verdant Brink, shared mainly because I think it turned out really pretty.”

Pretty death trees! Children, pluck their fruit and feed them to your enemies!

Hikari’s going to cap us off with some orbital debris in Star Citizen. You think the ships in this game are expensive? Just wait until you see what Chris Roberts charges for a good parking spot!

All right, my screenshot minions — let’s show 2021 up by really bringing our best in 2022! Or, barring that, dumb pictures of drunken Dwarves dancing on tavern tables!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
