One Shots: A familiar familiar

If you’re going to go adventuring in an insanely hostile world wearing nothing but robes and supportive undergarments, then you best be compensated for that lack of protection in other areas. Magic shields, instant fireballs, and on-demand fireworks are a good start, but having a helpful familiar tag along and provide advice and limited air support is even better.

In our One Shots spooky edition headliner, Rafael had some fun dressing up for the holiday in Blade and Soul: “I waited for the Halloween event Blade and Ghouls to start and I wasn’t disappointed. Who new witches were friendly? Aww, her little pet lycan is even smiling.”

A long time ago I read a comic in which the characters were talking about their greatest wishes. One said, “To not be on fire,” to which everyone else looked quizzical. He replied, “Think about it. If you were on fire, your greatest wish would to not be.”

That totally makes sense to me, at least. Poor Reader RW had to learn this the hard way during a misstep into a fire pit in Destiny. Hope you found a fire extinguisher quickly!

Returning to Landmark once more this week, Tyler has a pretty sharp picture of a ghoulish creation in some player’s claim. I can only imagine the therapy bills that any small kids who grow up in that town must face. What am I saying? Kids would love this sort of public horror. They made Furbies and mutated martial arts turtles famous, after all.

When Mysteyrys isn’t torturing innocent victims in a soundproofed “pain room,” the hours are whiled away enjoying the bizarre sights and sounds from EverQuest II’s Nights of the Dead event.

“Here are more masks from the Ghost Hunter chase,” Mysteyrys submitted.

“It’s Holler …Hollow ….It’s Candy Day!” Xephyr said, definitely not under the influence of powerful medications. “I took this Guild Wars 2 screenie during the developer meet up in Lion’s Arch earlier this week. Spoopy!”

You look like you need a hearty bowl of screenshot challenge this week, so I’ll just ladle it out to you right now. Get off your lazy butt and see if you can’t scrounge up some pictures of the most alien flora or fauna you’ve seen in MMOs. What definitely doesn’t look like it has any relation to something on our planet? That is what we want to see.

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject “One Shots.” Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!
