The Daily Grind: What’s your favorite MMO that you’re not playing?

The reality of the MMORPG genre is that even when the genre was small, there weren’t enough hours in the day to play everything. Now the genre is big, and every game you choose to play means hundreds you’re choosing not to. It sucks, but that’s just how the universe works.

I was reminded of this fact thanks to a tweet from MMO blogger and podcaster @MMOSyl, who is lovely and a good follow. Syl noted that LOTRO had become unplayable because of the combat, catch-up, and expansion cost, but she loved the world anyway. “My favorite MMORPG that I’m not playing,” she lamented.

In my case, I think it might be City of Heroes. I love City of Heroes; and it’s still one of my favorite MMORPGs of all time, and thanks to rogue servers, it’s also free. But I’ve been trying to cram in so many other MMOs lately – Guild Wars 2 and LOTRO, of course, but also my shop in SWG Legends, and Albion Online before that – that I just haven’t had time to dip back into Paragon City lately. I need to book some time for it.
