Massively OP Podcast Episode 206: This is our Anthem

Here we are again, and still, and always.

On this week’s show, Bree and Justin wade into the January wilds as they pull together stories about Anthem’s (unsurprising) popularity, the end of a long-running MMO, plans for the EverQuest franchise, and post-apocalyptic fun (or not).

It’s the Massively OP Podcast, an action-packed hour of news, tales, opinions, and gamer emails! And remember, if you’d like to send in your own letter to the show, use the “Tips” button in the top-right corner of the site to do so.

Oh, yeah, the other thing I wanted to comment on– I am in the audience that the overly complicated Eastern MMOs are aiming at. I put a stupid number of hours into BDO in 2018, and that is a game chock full o’ not-strictly-necessary systems. And I love that. To each their own, right?

I have no room to talk – I build spreadsheets to keep SWGL straight. Sometimes the complexity is more engrossing than anything else. :D

I don’t mind the kids in the background. That’s grownup life for ya.

I hope the EverQuest franchise is revived. (With something other than a mobile game, ffs.) I played UO before EQ, but EQ was my first real MMO love. I was excited for EQ Next, and we all know how that turned out– it disappeared into vapor and disappointment.

I’m interested in WoW Classic, but, I agree with the question of long-term purpose of the game. I think it’ll be fun the first week or so, but I’m not going to keep grinding away with no clear future to speak of.
And, I’m not interested in a Progression Server, either.

I think I’m mostly interested in WoW Classic just to see what the fuss is about, with lots of people at once, be part of it.
I never played the old WoW really, so I’m curious of what it’s all like. I’ve only tasted it in private servers a little.

That’s the thing; I did play Vanilla and I know it won’t be the same, it can’t.
So, you have more reason to play it than I probably do…but, I’m weak, so I’m sure I’ll re-sub and give it a try when the time comes.

I suspect Bree was busy being an International Woman of Mystery.

For Ragnarok 2 the loss of entire eu playerbase, because warp portal opted for that as a reaction to GDPR, sure played a role
