New Year's EVE

We used to run this Daily Grind as an award but canned it when we had a hard time summoning enough really stellar events to nominate. That wouldn’t have been the case this year; in 2023, we saw everything from major fan festivals for Final Fantasy XIV and Black Desert and Warframe to whole Sondheim musicals performed in LOTRO to the heart-warming impromptu Destiny 2 Zavala memorial to Elite Dangerous’ and World of Warships’ integrations with major museums.

But my vote has to go to EVE Online’s latest Project Discovery initiative, in which MMO players literally help cure cancer. EVE Online does not have much of a reputation as a wholesome game, but its science collabs are one of the best things to come from two decades and more of MMORPGs.

Grab a plate and take a bite out of this year-end Daily Grind!
