With everything happening across our neck of the gaming woods this month, it’s easy to lose sight of the more warm and fuzzy things happening in the industry. So let’s take a moment to ignore the tire fire and instead highlight several game studios’ efforts to help charity, particularly with the approach of Extra Life Game Day and its various events to raise money for children’s hospitals. Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Team ArenaNet is forming up once again to benefit Children’s Miracle Network with a 24-hour charity livestream on November 1st. Players can also earn a returning special title by logging in between October 29th and November 19th, and a game-wide buff will stack every time $10,000 is raised.
- Both DDO and LOTRO are hosting a marathon on November 2nd with lots of giveaways for both MMORPGs as funding milestones are met during the twin livestreams.
- Daybreak Games’ various sub-studios have also joined in, forming teams for DCUO, both EverQuest titles, and PlanetSide 2. DCUO will be also joining in on the Game Day livestreaming fun on November 2nd, while fans of the other titles are encouraged to donate to their favorite title’s team for incentives.
