Eden Falling looks interesting but aging and Permadeath are two massive turn offs. I invest way too much time and effort in my avatars to see them permadeathed every fix minutes or when I accidentally fall too far etc. lol

Yeah I don’t really think that sounds too awesome to me. Not only permadeath, but aging and dying of old age, so you *are* going to perma-die in the game no matter what. And old age affects your skills as well, I didn’t see how, but I can’t imagine it’s in a positive way.

They have these “Destiny Points” which you can use to avoid death if you have them, but that’s for combat death etc, that’s not for old age. Old age will eventually get you in this game.

I know they say you can train companions to take over for you after, but from what it looks like they only gain part of what your made character had. Your progress is constantly going to be taking several steps back even if you play perfectly.

Maybe they’ll prove my doubts wrong and it will end up amazing. Maybe there are groups of people out there that actually like the sound of aging and permadeath, the whole “realistic” way they’re trying to do a lot of things (other than fate points).

I’ll give it a look when it comes out still and give it a chance. I’m up for something new and different, but it doesn’t sound like the kind of different I’m looking for.
