We’ve asked many times in the past about MMOs that could use a classic version, and we often get the same responses. Guild Wars 2 usually comes up. Elder Scrolls Online often makes the list. I’ve even seen people suggest New World Classic (seriously).
But one I don’t often see is EVE Online. It hadn’t even occurred to me until a reader mentioned it in the comments back in January: “They really need to make EVE Classic before the game became the mess it is today,” MOP reader Blant opined.
It probably doesn’t leap to mind because I always think of EVE Online as being a classic MMO already, and yet the reason for that is it’s older than World of Warcraft – it launched in 2003 and has had decades of content and mechanics and systems and balance loaded in. I actually wonder whether an EVE Classic would actually revitalize the game – or just split it into two playerbases, neither of which is happy?
Does EVE Online need an EVE Classic version?
