Let’s see for a dream MMO first thing I think of is Rifts class system. Let’s add in some FFXIV crafting and combat in the vein of Albion (though with more skill options to use). Questing would he like DDO with a dash of TSW. I’d like a player economy like EVE but not quite sure how since I wouldn’t want item drop on death.

I’d also take Warhammer’s PvP since despite being a care bear most of the time, I really enjoyed that. I’d also want added in non-human races like either CU or Crowfall HD teasing (I mix these 2 up all the time so not sure which it was).

ESO’s level scaling would also be in there along with BDO’s massive open world. Lastly, and this is hugely important to me, I want actual ocean content that’s accessible for solo and group play. Frankly, I have yet to see any MMO do ocean content I’m happy with but BDO currently comes the closest.

Thanks for the podcast. Well wishes to you all.

I’m still hoping for more MMOs to marry developer-crafted content with sandbox freedom enabling player-created content and agency. Accessibility is important along with a healthy focus on casual players.

I like fantasy themes and stylized graphics. Preferably combat that isn’t mouse-targeted like in games like Tera. I like having control of where I can click at all times.

Everquest Next seemed like it might have been something to push towards this kind of idea. :[

You can still log in and claim it! You can’t play it until you do get POF, but you will at least have it unlocked for if/when you do. :D

I yearn for a sci-fi game where I don’t have to be a ship or spend my entire existence in a cockpit. In fact, I don’t want to fly the ship. I just want to have my science team and we get picked up by a captain and off we go. I would like combat to be by choice, like the original TSW was, where we could pick any combination of weapons and use them however we thought would work for us. I want worlds I can explore, even if its by fast travel, without being confronted with a view of a beautiful area that I can never access. I want a game that envisions a universe where you don’t have to kill everything that moves and crafting adds value to game play. I want a game where you are not punished if you are smart. I don’t know of any game like that. TSW (though not sci-fi) came the closest of any game I’ve played to being my perfect game. I just think after the original team left Funcom didn’t know what to do with it.

In Star Trek Online, you spend most of the time as a ship. There are only a handful of missions where the solution to any given problem isn’t “shoot it, then shoot it again.” And most of those are pretty simplistic puzzles. The maps are small (although a few are very pretty) and are pretty much defined by having invisible walls or impassable barriers blocking off all the stuff you can see but not touch.

You are free to use whatever weapons and powers you want in ground combat though. Pretty much everyone says the ground combat is the weakest part of the game, so I’m not sure that actually means very much.

Walking while ranting?! i didn’t know that, so wireless mic and headphones?

For dream MMO; WoW does somethings right, i like the combat and after trying few action combat games i think i prefer tab-targeting combat, WoW improve its graphics with every expansion and i like this style.

Two major things i don’t like about WoW, one is the thempark-ness of the whole game, which make the world empty and there is almost no reason to go back to most old zones, GW2 daily activities makes people go back to the old world, also GW2 dynamic events makes it fun to go back to any zone, high level players are scaled down to the zone level.

The other is the simplistic crafting system, SWG-like system will be much better.

So many space games suffer regardless of genre. Almost all of them are abstract in the places they should be detailed.

Like space travel is a loading screen instead of freeform. Or you get a picture of a planet instead of an actual world you can visit.

Hilarious re the bank story. When you went in the bank with that fat check it should have triggered the bank to think OMG we have to do the anti-money laundering check! They are supposed to Know Your Customer (KYC). When a customer comes in with an unusual amount of $ they are supposed to act differently. LOL that is hilarious.

It was my first time ever going into that branch in person! Normally if I gotta deal with a check we just use the drop, but no way I was doing it with that. :D

Yeah….I bet they whispered and when you left, I bet that manager filled out a form for CYA purposes. I’m still chuckling on that.

I didn’t even mention the part where I was pushing my 9mo old and my toddler in a double stroller and trying to keep them under control in the middle of this! :P I was a mess.

*sobbing and laughing and then more sobbing* tbh, I’m not leaving the house anyway – even if they move us from red to yellow Friday as planned, the virus is still pretty bad here, and likely gonna get worse and not better this summer. :/

Honestly, my county went yellow recently and it’s kind of crazy. I’m sure its partially just cabin fever but a lot of people I see aren’t even wearing masks anymore. I was going to say I’ve also seen more people out the few times I’ve left the house since we went yellow but I saw our mini golf place totally PACKED while still in red so ya…

So maybe staying in red isn’t such a bad thing for now. Especially in your area.
