As we kick off another edition of MMO gamer blogs talking about the titles that we love the most, we’ll be visiting with Contains Moderate Peril. This site gave strong praise to Star Trek Online but criticized the slowdown in its content output.
“Star Trek Online remains a good MMO which uses the intellectual property upon which it is based, well. But it most definitely has a content problem at present. There is too much focus upon creating sellable digital items rather than creating new missions. What new missions we do get are somewhat generic.”

Priest with a Cause is starting to get hyped for WoW’s 20th anniversary: “I remember when I had just started playing WoW and was absolutely enthralled by it for the first few months, the thought occurred to me how I would feel if it was going to shut down, and I found the idea rather heart-wrenching at the time. Still, I don’t think I would’ve expected to still be here playing and talking about it almost 20 years later. Funny how that goes.”
Parallel Context argues that sometimes MMOs give us too much choice: “Yes, this list above does cover a wide range of activities, but if you’re new/returning to the game, the number of choices alone can induce analysis-paralysis. Or you feel like you have to do all the things, and that induces burnout.”
Tales of the Aggronaut won his FFXIV house back after losing it earlier this year: “I had been hitting this Timer website periodically to tell me if a new period opened or if it was time for me to check to see if I had won. Yesterday I was completely out of it and thus missed the opening of the results period. So this morning I logged in expecting to get a refund of my downpayment but instead… I had won the plot.”
Going Commando sees a strange link between a SWTOR expansion and The War Within: “I couldn’t quite place my finger on it though, and while a guildie had some suggestions as to who the voice actor might be, that still didn’t answer my question of which character in KotFE or KotET he reminded me of. It wasn’t until the next morning as I was about to get on a train when it suddenly came to me: the leader of the Heralds of Zildrog!”
Dragonchasers beat Guild Wars 2, like, for sure: “But I was really glad to finish, 12 years after buying the game. In terms of hours spent on this character, it was around 55, but of course I was doing a lot of stuff besides story missions.”
The Ancient Gaming Noob marks 18 years in EVE Online: “But I am not here to brag about my meager holding… I am not at all space rich when compared to many… but to talk about how I managed to accumulate the ISK to gain all those assets over the years.”
