August is always a super overwhelming month for me, in MMOs and out. I’m always trying to finish up projects in real life before the summer ends, and MMOs are always shoveling new games and big patches out left and right trying to line up with Gamescom and the fall season. Just in the last couple of weeks and the week ahead, we’re looking at Wayfinder, Palia, Guild Wars 2, Elder Scrolls Online, LOTRO, DDO, WoW and WoW Classic, Waven, Fallout 76, Diablo IV, New World, Lost Ark, Mortal Online 2, and a dozen smaller games and multiplayer titles waiting their turns on the horizon.
Today, two of my core MMOs are launching updates, and I’ve had to choose between them because I just don’t have time for both when I barely have time for one; my family is heading to Guild Wars 2’s Secrets of the Obscure, and then I’ll wait until they’re all bored with that and then go be a River Hobbit in Middle-earth.
How about you? Are you playing Guild Wars 2 SOTO today – or another big launch? How did you decide what’s getting your time and attention in a month so packed with MMO content? Are you as overwhelmed as I am, or are you wondering what all the fuss is?
