Massively OP Podcast Episode 169: Farscape and RuneScape

17

On this week’s show, Bree and Justin look ahead at the next generation of MMORPGs in development while saying farewell to a couple of the old guard. It’s a podcast full of conspiracies, time magic, debates over subscriptions, and way too much talk about Farscape!

It’s the Massively OP Podcast, an action-packed hour of news, tales, opinions, and gamer emails! And remember, if you’d like to send in your own letter to the show, use the “Tips” button in the top-right corner of the site to do so.

I feel the same way regarding screenshots. Characters are an individual thing and highly subjective, but environments can really draw me in.

Also, yay Farscape!

I once went to a meet-and-greet with Gigi Edgley in a StarTrek themed pub in London where got an autographed photo to give to my dad as a Father’s Day present.
I left my leather jacket behind and had to return during the following evening’s Xena night to get it back.
Can I haz a nerd pin?

Very cool, Gigi is great. BTW, I see that she is in an episode of Star Trek Continues. Need to put that on my near-term viewing schedule.

Michael and Evo on their now defunct podcast – slice of sci fi interviewed Gigi Edgley and her Aussie accent was hard for them to understand.

Loved Farscape, at least the first couple of seasons. It was quirky and out there, and was definitely a show that marched to the proverbial ‘different drum’. Best chemistry among a scifi ship crew this side of Trek: TOS. A bit of trivia; actress Virginia Hey (Zhaan) played the warrior girl who got killed helping Mel in Mad Max 2/Road Warrior. Anyway, I really do need to revisit this show sooner rather than later.

Chrichton talking to creepy alien – “You know flossing would take care of that gingivitis.”

Ka D’argo to Chrichton – “The bad news is that you are going to be in frozen stasis for a long time, the good news is Chiana and I had great sex!”

Farscape has been one of my favourite shows for SO long, i adored it and the cast and the chemistry between Ben Browder (Chrichton) and Claudia Black (Aeryn Sun) was magical. It broke my heart when that show ended especially due to the cliffhanger that stayed in place for a LONG time until they eventually resolved it with the PeaceKeeper Wars.

The episodes were so clever and witty and well written throughout.

Farscape is the one major science fiction show I never got around to watching . One of these days I must see what its like .

But there is so much to watch .

It is one of those shows I worry about re-watching because so much of the comic elements centre on fish-out-of-water John wise-cracking 90s pop-culture references around aliens that have no idea what he is talking about.
Then again, the odd snippets I look up on YouTube normally crack me up.

Wonder if Justin or Bree have ever seen Blake Seven ?
It was created by Terry Nation , the same person who created the Daleks in Dr Who.

Imagine my surprise when playing the SWTOR Sith Warrior, being introduced to the Sith Academy by Overseer Tremel, who was voiced by none other than Blake’s Seven actor Paul Darrow. A very recognizable and iconic voice.

Sincerely got a HUGE giggle out of the Farscape banter! Great podcast yet again this week!

No such thing as too much Farscape talk! I would be so there for a Farscape MMO.

Aeryn is indeed the best, but Zhaan and Pilot are very close seconds.
Among all the other videogame voice acting Claudia Black’s done (including TERA and FFXIV), she’s now the voice of Destiny 2’s Eververse.
