If ever there were a year that I wish we hadn’t demoted “best event” from an award to a Daily Grind, it was 2022, and that’s because we actually had so much to pick from this year. We had LOTRO’s Weatherstock, fanfests for everything from EVE Online to MapleStory, Extra Life, the World of Warships museum hop, that time players in Foxhole staged a labor strike, Elvira descending on AQ3D, CCP’s Project Discovery, PlanetSide 2’s record setting run, and memorials for beloved actors like Kevin Conroy and Nichelle Nichols. And that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
If I were picking, though, I’d vote for Blaugust, which doesn’t get enough credit for rustling up bloggers and setting them to the MMO cause.
What would you say was the best event in the MMO genre in 2022?
