Make My MMO: Britaria is dead, long live Legends of Aria

Awake, lol oh no

Another one bites the dust? This week, we learned that the crypto version of Legends of Aria, Britaria, has completely folded. It’s not a huge surprise, given that the company doing it was also at one point trying to make P2W bundles and crypto tokens happen. It looks as though the rights had reverted to Citadel Studios, hence the revival of Legends of Aria Classic last month. That game is very much alive, again, though it’s postponed its subscription start as it addresses its roadmap.

Meanwhile, Fractured teased a midsummer launch, Ashes of Creation previewed its PvP node system, Pantheon has rolled into its third alpha season, Ship of Heroes talked raids, MOP’s Chris returned to Star Citizen, and we all had a giggle at what we assume is the joke Kickstarter MMO, Awake Afterdark Apocalypse (pictured in the header, lol).

Read on for more on what’s been up with MMO crowdfunding over the last few weeks, plus our roundup of all the crowdfunded MMOs we’re following!

Yes, some crowdfunded MMOs most definitely do succeed. But others crash and burn, and you need to hear about the whole spectrum of games that sought your money early in exchange for the promise of input and transparency. And that’s exactly what Make My MMO does several times a month. Help us keep ’em accountable, would ya?
