Massively OP Podcast Episode 216: Star Wars frenzy

Everything old is... well, it's actually still old.

On this week’s show, it’s all about MMO content reveals! Bree and Justin get nerdy over SWTOR’s expansion reveal, talk about World of Warcraft 8.2, and wonder how Guild Wars 2 can offer dragon mounts if players have killed them all.

It’s the Massively OP Podcast, an action-packed hour of news, tales, opinions, and gamer emails! And remember, if you’d like to send in your own letter to the show, use the “Tips” button in the top-right corner of the site to do so.

Your discussion on the e-mail makes me think back to the mercenary/hero system from Guild Wars 1. Were the game appropriately designed for them, I’d welcome such an addition to GW2.

I’d also welcome further changes to Heart of Thorns content, including making hero points as soloable as most others are.

GW1 heroes popped into my mind at the same time! I was thinking how GW2 supplements story instances with NPCs to try to help. But unlike GW1, it’s impossible to manage them, and it’d be so much more helpful if we could. Don’t res person A, res person B, who can throw down a banner and res everyone else at the same time! Arggg! :D

There’s a handful of hero points that should probably be nerfed, but the population is such that if you usually see a handful of people doing the same thing.

I do very much agree with the red circles and mob density. I enjoy a challenge, but a lot of the ways gw2 has decided to add challenge is just annoying. They ended up taking out a couple of the new fractal instabilities because of player outcry

‘Were’ is not the same as ‘we’re’

Since WE’RE correcting grammar :p

Actually It was a phonology correction (sound of a word), not a grammatical correction (the structure of a word). ;)

And for the record I make more typos and grammatical errors than most. But not because I do not know better but because I rarely check such things before posting and the post editing time is really short making it difficult to go back and correct after the fact lol.

However one thing I do not do it misspronounce how words sound it is something which has always irked me when people get wrong especially when the phonetical way in which something is written simply cannot make the sound it is being used by someone to make lol

I corrected Justin immediately anyway – I’m assuming he wasn’t looking at the word when he said it and was trying to conjure it up in his brain and remembered there was “u” in the first syllable. I presume it’s a play on nautilus, but eh, it’s a nonsense made-up Star Wars word anyway, so no point fixating on it. :)

No worries Bree,

Miss-pronounciations in general may irk me, and you are correct it is a made up word, but the way words work in how they sound made up or not has rules. But I was only poking fun at any rate hence the joking comment on the end of my OP.

And afterall we all know 99% of what Justin says is done with a comical leaning anyway so it wouldn’t surprise me if the miss-pronounciation was entirely intended hehe ;)

You can always tell who learned English from books and who learned it from TV. The former can’t pronounce shit and the latter can’t spell shit. :D

Seeking most efficiency lead to dehumanize workplace and people, but that what people do, they just want what’s good for the company, more efficiency is always good, right?

That’s why you read about absurd rules in some companies, like trying to manage who go to the bathroom and when! and that’s why some people working hard to replace people with robots and software, because robots are so efficient, they have no feelings, no needs.

In the other hand, there are people like this guy:

Yeah, I wasn’t going to touch that comment thread because it was bonkers, but this is what I was thinking.

The Blizzard people who were effusively praising that product probably expected to get a pat on the back from business people and investors. Actually, they probably still did.

I’m guessing this podcast was recorded before the CoH server news broke. Well, that just means that next week’s podcast should be very interesting. :)
