Have you ever had this happen: A new video game character is introduced in one of the world’s most popular MOBA — and it’s based on you? All the time, we bet. Well, according to an author who identifies herself as “Stephanie,” League of Legends’ Seraphine is based on her. She points to a brief relationship with a Riot employee as a reason for this “inspiration.”
“The short version is that a lot of details about Seraphine line up very closely with facts about myself,” she wrote in a details Medium post complete with comparison photos. “Her name, her drawings, her cat, a lot of her pictures, her hair color, her eye color, her face shape, and even where she’s from.” Riot Games emphatically denies that this is the case and said that the employee in question was let go before Seraphine was in development, though of course it wouldn’t be the first time in recent memory that Riot has been accused of yoinking a real person’s likeness – and the last time, the courts sided against the company.
