So wait, Bree, Justin, I’m confused. I thought that part of the fun here on MassivelyOp was that we come together to discuss, debate even argue about our shared passion, mmorpgs.

Based on both of your comments in the mailbag segment in regards to Tyler’s article about LotRO, that isn’t the case. Both of your comments make it sound like we the readers are supposed to read and move on. With maybe a “thanks for sharing” post. Basically a “like” if you will and that’s it.

Sounds like I’ve been doing Massively wrong for many years. :/ Tyler’s article was his opinion, but you share your opinion with others on a public forum, then be prepared to have people discuss it, sometimes strongly. There are 122 comments under his article, I’d not really consider it “blown up” but it was a heavier commented article for sure.

I feel that you both decided to selectively miss why people took issue with article and further that some of your comments were short sighted and hyperbolic in tone. Though again, it sounds like I and others are actually doing Massively wrong, in how we interact with the writers. I’ll attempt to take the “read and move on” stance to heart from now on.

Yeah, that’s not what we were saying even remotely. Please understand that the comments you see are the stuff that gets to stay in the comments, the interesting debate, the conversations, the differing points of view. You aren’t seeing the vicious personal attacks against Tyler (or the rest of our staff, in this case) that our mods deleted and to which we were referring. I expect the former (and contributed to it myself). I don’t tolerate the latter.

Good point, thanks for the reply Bree. Honestly MassivelyOp comes off much better than most websites these days as a far as posters go. You all are doing a really good job on monitoring the site and articles because what I see is very much on the low end on trolls compared to what you see in other sites.

Basically I had no idea that there was much of that going on here. I always felt that we were a more positive community on Massively, not perfect mind you, but much better than most. I didn’t realize that you had to do much clean up most of the time. I knew that there were some articles that caused you and others to work much harder but I didn’t realize that it was more common. :/

Oh that’s the thing – it wasn’t regulars doing it. Our regulars know where the civility line is. :D In this case, the post got linked in a couple of, shall we say, superfan hotspots, and so we had a lot of folks who just parachuted in to tell us off and parachute back out again. I even had one person accuse us of being paid off by Amazon to write the article.

It’s true too, I’m totes buying another yacht with that payoff!

Wow, seriously wow on the whole “being paid off by Amazon”. lol. Seriously? Oh and I love the “parachute in and tell us off and parachute back out” comment. It just tickled my Army Recon Scout old self.

I’ve never envied you all for doing the monitoring that you all have to do here. I just had assumed on what I was seeing that over all we didn’t have the bigger issues that some site have.

The Star Citizen articles being some of our heaviest commented articles don’t really get that bad, the trolling feels very small time in comparison of the horror shows I’ve seen in other places.

Kudos to the team here for the great job they do at monitoring and cleaning up the worst of the crap that’s threatening etc that we don’t really ever see.

CoH Task Forces. Posi 1 and 2 are low level and only take about 60-90 minutes to complete.
Also, if everyone grabs a custom xp boost on the next stream, levels won’t be much of an issue.
AE shouldn’t really be about levelling, it should be about content creation. It’s fine that people play it for that, but where the system really shines is original stories and RP. It’s a pity more games don’t have that.

It is a waste not to re-release Marvel Heroes, the game is good, i still sometimes go to old streams for it.
