On this week’s show, Bree, Sam, and Justin cover Population Zero’s launch, how World of Warcraft’s numbers are doing, Trove’s Delves update, Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor’s prologue quests, the worth of MMO rewards, and whether or not SSG’s business practices are predatory.

It’s the Massively OP Podcast, an action-packed hour of news, tales, opinions, and gamer emails! And remember, if you’d like to send in your own letter to the show, use the “Tips” button in the top-right corner of the site to do so.

I remember once back in 2000 I believe, the original Everquest had a rollback of about a week. I remember receiving an email that said the recent update had a potential to cause a catastrophic failure of the game so as a caution they rolled back the update. I don’t remember receiving anything for the lost week of game time.

Still listening to the podcast, but a word on WoW Live vs. Classic numbers. The double XP/double Rep buff for the past couple of months is only in Live, and is probably really distorting the numbers. I know that I am bringing a lot of alts up to max level, and I’ll bet that others are too.

Once the double XP/double Rep buff is gone, I’ll be back to Classic.

Please listen to them, SSG! Fix the stupid Lotro sub/expansion model!

Just because a lot of people complain about “gankboxes” doesn’t mean they’re willing to buy or play if you change it for them. Game devs need to get real clear on that. It’s probably one of the biggest misconceptions bordering on deception that goes on in the gaming field.

Indeed, if a game is truly shallow, as most of those are without the PvP… it won’t suddenly appeal just because there’s no PvP.

Doesn’t always mean a game would be bad without the PvP, but rather when something is designed for PvP as the focus and there’s not much else… shoehorning a no PvP mode tends to often not work due to a lack of other things to do.

I feel your pain Justin I am stuck on the same part of the Tadpole quest, because I chose to get Fallout 1st in order that I could play solo on a private server…so NO other people, making reviving someone an issue.

I had hoped they would make some of the settler requests count for it, i.e some ask for a stimpack, some require defending etc.. that could have qualified for that requirement but nope…

Additional sting from this, I bought some backpack skins (responder, secret service) thinking cool i know how to make backpacks (small), the skins fail to mention they are ONLY for standard backpack, which you can ONLY get from the Tadpole questline. So they have had atoms off me for things i couldn’t use too, which annoyed the cr*p out of me.

I hope that Blizzard isn’t putting less effort into WoW as a whole, that instead this expansion will get that love for some of its base design that it’s sorely needed. Buuuut, so far, I’m not seeing any sign of anything really that remarkable about Shadowlands that would make up for no new races/classes/etc.

People have been propping it up saying that instead of a new class Blizzard is really focusing on fixing classes. Sure, you can see that a bit, but so far the changes are looking dull and not all that comprehensive. And there’s been no real assurance that there will be anymore big shakeups, and instead we’ll have to wait an indefinite time period once more for something great. Which never comes, I guess?

It’s frustrating to think about.
