It’s funny how whenever there’s a question about how games might implement a new feature, it’s something that EVERQUEST 2 has been doing for years. Want to set the play difficulty for your character? Go to a chronomage and reduce your level by the desired amount on a temporary basis. It’s also great for enjoying lower level content that you might have bypassed, or picking up lower level items that will no longer drop for your OP self.

Playing on a standard LotRO server, I’ve spent half my time turning off leveling entirely, so I can at least keep quests at a light blue difficulty. It would be nice if they could come up with a more elegant solution to that problem though.

The more that other ppl on the podcast let Justin finish his sentences, the more I enjoy the podcasts.

I just had to respond to Eliot’s comment about having an easy mode/hard mode setting per individual causing people to play different games. In my opinion, that should not be a concern, because people are constantly playing different games all the time. If I choose a strength buff on my armor and you choose a health buff, we are playing different games. If the RNG gods shine their faces on me and give me an elite weapon drop, I’m playing a different game than people that haven’t been blessed (and loving every second of it). Heck, If I choose to roll a wizard and you choose a paladin, we are playing different games. How is having an easy mode/hard mode setting any different than all the other choices and random events that are already present in game that causes each and every person to experience the game differently from the all the others?

People are constantly playing different games from the people next to them. I’ve been reminded of that in every single MMO I’ve ever played. But, it’s OK to be different. It’s OK to play differently. It’s OK to be given a choice in how to play. I don’t see how me choosing to take two months to level a character instead of two weeks suddenly breaks the game play experience for everyone else. Granted, it may require some thought by the designers to ensure that the scaling worked smoothly, but who ever thought that designing a game was easy (except maybe Bethesda).

You know the more I think of it, Forza Horizon 4 is legitimately more of an MMO than Fallout 76. More players in the open world map at once, more methods of communication, more things to do and I’m pretty sure it has clan support lol.

PS. Damn that TERA shade from Eliot, he’s not a fan of the OwO.

It’s a gremlin; they show up elsewhere in the game.
